Melina Sippel

Melina grew up the youngest of three with two older brothers in Indio, California. She was born into an entrepreneurial family and it began to show early. In elementary school she started selling muffins and cookies from her family’s bakery out of her backpack. Outside of school she’d go door to door through the neighborhood selling buckets of cookie dough. Then in 1994 she took over the family’s retail bakery, deli and wholesale business knows as TKB Bakery and TKB Deli. As she and her brothers began taking over more and more of the business responsibilities, their parents were able to slowly move into the background and focus on their favorite parts of the business.

Running a family business is hard. Five strong, independent and passionate people working together in any circumstances can be a challenge, then layer on top that you’re all family who spends 24-7 together in and outside of work. But they love their business. They love providing the best customer service possible to their community and those who stop in for a visit. They put in the work wherever it mattered - communication courses, leadership development, business workshops, new books to read, etc. They knew the success of their family business would depend upon the space they created and the energy they put into it. Of course it helped that they make all their bread, bakery items and more fresh daily. The food is outstanding and the customer service is even better. Then in 2018 they became the #1 Eatery in the U.S. on Yelp.

The past couple of years Melina has dedicated to her customers, her staff and being a contribution to Coachella Valley speaking at career days and supporting the economic growth of the region.
